From June we will be opening on Saturday between 10 and 2pm.
First we find out what you want and need. Then, together, we develop a plan to tackle your concerns and work out goals for your treatment. This plan might include individual one to one sessions or accessing a range of workshops which we offer which will focus on solutions and developing skills to change your behaviour and address your alcohol misuse. Three times a week we hold information sessions. This is a small group setting where you and or your family will be given an overview of the service and what we offer and what to expect from ADS.
We have staff based at GP surgeries and Healthcare Centres. We can offer a shared care approach in assessing, screening and supporting people with alcohol issues. We also train healthcare teams in assessment, screening and interventions. We also work with families/carers affected by anothers alcohol misuse
Our detox nurse will work with you and your GP in preparation for community detoxification. This involves working out a prescribing regime and arranging to visit you at home, also developing a support package post detox. Where required we arrange for specialist in patient detoxification and residential rehabilitation.
Following a detox we realise people are at their most vulnerable for relapse. We offer a 12 week intensive programme of support. This includes access to workshops which look at relapse avoidance, confidence building, access to employment and training and one to one sessions.
Getting into trouble with the law is often exacerbated by alcohol problems .We work in partnership with the Probation Service and local prisons to provide specialist assessment and support.
We have specialist alcohol workers who liaise and work alongside The Community Mental Health Teams and other professionals to develop a package of care for people with complex needs. This may be anything from low level depression/anxiety to those who have more complex needs.
We aim to assist people to achieve the goals that are set out in the care plan. Should you have any difficulties in keeping appointments we can assist by carrying out home visits to help you keep on track.
We have Drop In sessions at the centre held several times a week, call in for a coffee and chat with other service users and staff. We have links with the Wellbeing Service, Citizens Advice and Housing services who often attend the Drop Ins. We also offer acupuncture three times a week to assist in stress management and relaxation.
