How to find us

St Thomas Road is conveniently located on the North West side of the town centre about 5 minutes' walk from the town hall and close to many bus routes. Click here to view a map

Unfortunately, there is no wheelchair access to the building, but we may be able to arrange a home visit for those with access difficulties.

We're open 5 days a week

Our service is free to anyone aged 18 and over who lives in the Chorley and Leyland area and has problems with alcohol misuse, or is worried about a family member or friend.

Opening times:

Monday to Friday: 9.00am to 4.45pm
Thursday evenings: 6.00pm to 8.00pm for Structured Work Group

What happens when we meet?

First we find out what you want and need. Then, together, we develop a plan to tackle your concerns and work out goals for your treatment. This plan might include individual counselling sessions or joining a selection of groups within our project.

Services

Community Alcohol Services

Chorley Community Alcohol Services provides a range of easily accessed facilities from the St Thomas's Road premises, including: advice, information, assessment, brief interventions and extended brief interventions for pre-dependant drinkers and their families. We also work in partnership with the providers of specialist alcohol treatment for individuals with more complex health and/or mental health issues associated with their drinking, or who have become chronically dependant, to provide a range of aftercare support, such as relapse prevention, auricular acupuncture, abstinence and maintenance support groups, and non-alcohol focussed social activities.

Specialist Primary Healthcare Alcohol and Hospital Liaison Alcohol Workers

Funded by Chorley & South Ribble PCT, Chorley Community Alcohol Service also provides a community-based service for both triage assessment and brief/extended brief interventions via designated primary care venues (e.g. GP surgeries, Pathways Mental Health Resource Centre).
We also have a Specialist Alcohol Worker  within Chorley General Hospital. This service will offer appropriately identified in-patients the option of an on-site assessment, brief interventions and consultation within the hospital environment, followed by community-based aftercare support.
