about alcohol

Alcohol and Pregnancy

When alcohol is drunk during pregnancy it freely passes through the placenta to the developing foetus at roughly the same concentrations as found in the mother's blood.

Alcohol (ethanol) can disrupt and destroy the cells in the developing foetus; this can cause physical and developmental problems.

Calculating the impact on the developing foetus is complex and there are no absolutely safe limits for drinking during pregnancy. So it would be wise to avoid alcohol altogether.
